Easter in Denmark 2012

The start of Easter, -Palm sunday-, is April 1 this year. The following 3 days are ordinary work days, but schools are closed. Shops will be closed on Maundy Thursday and Good friday, but open on Saturday.  On Easter sunday and Easter monday shops will be closed again, and the traditional Easter lunch take place all over the country.

Easter Holidays:

Palm Sunday, April 1
Maundy Thursday,  April 5
Good Friday, April 6
Easter Sonday, April 8
Easter Monday, April 9

    Lovely photos, Denmark! Are those little mushrooms actually eggs?? Thank you for sharing your country’s Easter traditions.

      Yes, they are hard boiled eggs with a half tomato, and small drops of mayonaise on top. 🙂

    Lovely table! Reminds me of my Mum’s at Easter. You Danes are so good doing things like that properly.

    Your mom did an excellent job! I love the little toadstools. I will try to make some for my grandsons at lunch tomorrow 🙂

      Oh, how nice, my mother would have been proud to know. These photos was taken some years ago.

        Birgitte, both my grandsons enjoyed them immensely. My sister in Northern Ontario was planning to make some today too. They remind us of the little red and white toadstool decorations that often came in packages from my grandparents in Germany. Thanks to both you and your mother for the inspiration 🙂
