The little missing mermaid

In 2010, the little mermaid went on a long journey. She, and her stone was sent all the way to Shanghai in China, to be displayed in the Danish pavilion during expo 2010. From April until November  Danes and tourists in Copenhagen was met with this screen, a live transmission from the exhibition, made by chinese artist Ai Weiwei.

    She certainly has traveled! What an innovative solution that was to replace her virtually during her trip to the expo.

      It certainly was. Allowing the mermaid to leave Denmark, caused many discussions, but she is safely back on her stone again. 🙂

    What an intriguing story – and so relieved she is safely back at home now. Denmark without the Little Mermaid would be unthinkable.

    Genius! It was such a good idea to share her, and to show a live video feed of her during her sojourn in China is inspired.

      Imagine how it would be to explain all this to the artist Edvard Eriksen, in 1913… 🙂
