The Danish flag “Dannebrog” is the oldest flag in the World. It came out of the sky in the year 1219 at June 15,  during King Valdemar´s fight in Estonia. Valdemar was King in Denmark from 1202-1248.  June 15 is called  “Valdemar Day”, it is one of the official Danish flag-days.

Wikipedia The red banner with a white cross (Danish:Dannebrog) has been the national flag of the Danes since 1219. It is Europe’s oldest flag design still in modern use.

    Our own flag day in the US is June 14. I wonder if there’s a connection. You guys have a much older flag, though.

      Oh, I see, congratulations! I can´t imagine there is any connection, but it is a strange coincident. You have a nice and old flag too. 🙂

    Hello Birgitte, I had no idea that Dannebrog had such a long history. I guess it also means that Denmark has been a state since before 1219 too, which must make it one of the oldest nation states in the world too?
